Prevalence ofanemia among Schedule Caste Women: A Hospital-Based Study in Eastern Nepal

Abstract

Abstract:A hospital based study was carried out in eastern Nepal to determine prevalence of anemia in different age group among schedule caste women (20->70) years age Population. Cyanmethemoglobin method was used to determine haemoglobin level. Out of 877 subjects, 512 (58.4%) women were diagnosed as anemic. The highest prevalence of anemia 61.5% was found at the age group of 50-59 years and the second highest 60.6% was found at the age group of 20-29 years of the anemic population. The mean and SD of haemoglobin and age were 10.21±1.45gm/dl and 35.59±14.14 years of the anemic population respectively. Keywords: Schedule caste, Anemia, Prevalence.
