Preventiven and treatment of ureteroscopy complications

Abstract
The analysis of complications of 1100 ureteroscopies over the period from 1997 to 2012 in patients with average age of 51,5±12,6 years is given. It was found that most often indications for ureterescopy were ureteral stones, mainly of its lower third. While performing ureterescopy it is possible development of intra- and post-operative complications; migration of concrements or its fragments being the most often among them. Detachment and perforation of the ureter, bleeding are the most life-threatening complications for a patient. To prevent com¬plications it is recommended to avoid traction of large stones and their debris with a loop; the necessity of the use of strings, wires, adequate visual control, minimizing manipulation in the zone with significant inflammatory changes in the wall of the ureter is justified. To treat complications of ureteroscopy surgery it is offered to complete drainage of the urinary tract, and at risk of septic complications to assign adequate antibacterial and anti-inflammatory therapy.
