Abstract

Primary Lymphoepithelioma-like Carcinoma of the lung is commonly encountered in the nasopharyngeal region. The oral cavity, salivary glands, lung and stomach are other sites of localization. Primary Lymphoepithelioma-like Carcinoma of the lung is very rare. In our clinic 3 male and 1 female patients have been diagnosed as Lymphoepithelioma-like Carcinoma between 2000-2007. Mean age was 33. 25 years (range from 22 to 49). 2 patients presented as left hilar, 1 as right hilar, and 1 as tracheal mass. One patient was given radiotherapy after a left pneumonectomy. The remaining 3 patients received chemotherapy: 1 due to esophageal invasion, and the other 2 after biopsy via thoracotomy. All patients are still under followup.Lymphoepithelioma-like Carcinoma is common in the Asian population. Publications including long-term follow-up such patients are limited and the issue needs more research. Current articles state that the optimal median survival is 2 years.
