Journal Title: The Polish Journal of Criminology - Year 2017, Vol 3, Issue 1

Abstract

At the moment, we are witnessing an ever stronger expansion of the private sector in the criminal policy of modern States. This issue is also noticeable on the Polish ground. A particular expression of this issue is the privatization of the prison sector. The authors of this study discuss the problem of privatization of the prison system in a historical perspective referring to systems in which a private prison is already in operation. The historical perspective is particularly important in relation to the postulates of creating analogous solutions in Poland.
