Abstract

In the juristical literature there was a little space devoted to the issues concerning names and surnames, their entering into vital records and other documents. In the new act there isn’t any separate chapter devoted to the matter of preparing of polish act on the basis of foreign one, as it was intended. The issues of name and surname on the grounds of the Vital Records Act are connected with the question of localization (transcription) of the vital record, as well as the transcription and transliteration of the name and surname alone. In Poland the issues mentioned above belong to the duties of Registry Office and the transcription as well as transliteration of the name and surname takes place by the localisation of foreign act.
