PROBLEM OF FUEL POVERTY IN POLAND

Abstract

The aim of the paper was to assess the level of energy poverty in Poland. In recent years the attempts were made to define this phenomenon and treat it as a separate concept in relation to income poverty. Energy poverty is a difficulty in meeting basic energy needs in the place of living at a reasonable price. The article uses data from the Central Statistical Office and the Institute for Structural Research. The problem of energy poverty in Poland is important – in 2014, 9.6% of households were at risk of energy poverty. Energy poverty is a multi-faceted problem that has many negative consequences, which are harmful to human health and life.
