Problema alegerii în dilemele majore ale obstetricii- actori, roluri, argumente etice şi influenţe

Abstract
Articolul îşi propune să trateze principiul autonomiei alegerii pacienţilor într-un domeniu extrem de sensibil, cel al obstetricii, privitor la cele două aspecte care nasc atâtea dileme şi dezbateri, avortul provocat şi cezariana electivă. Se aduc în lumină argumentele etice pro şi contra, se trec în revistă diversele puncte de vedere şi influenţe istorice, legislative, religioase şi umaniste. Articolul subliniază necesitatea adaptării vechilor principii etice la realităţile complexe ale societăţii de astăzi şi respectarea pe deplin a drepturilor fundamentale ale pacientului, inclusiv pe cel de autonomie. Articolul lasă, totuşi, deschisă problema influenţării alegerii exercitate de pacient, de către diverşi factori şi necesitatea ca medicul să devină garantul respectării acestui drept.
