PROBLEMS OF SELECTING AND CONCLUDING CONTRACTS WITH SUBCONTRACTORS

Abstract
The participation of subcontractors in a project can result in cost, risk and employment reduction. By employing subcontractors, the general contractor can concentrate on the key activity. Subcontractors provide specialists, technologies, equipment and work methodology. The participation of subcontractors in a project can also generate some risk. For this reason, a subcontract has to specify in detail the obligations and rights of subcontractors. A well-written subcontract can reduce the risk of its incorrect performance and ensure the right relationship between the parties. The authors present the issues concerning the selection of subcontractors and the Polish regulations governing construction contracts and subcontracts. The article describes the scope of subcontracts with some errors occurring in practice. The results of research related to construction subcontracts are also presented in the article.
