Problems of transformation and prospects for development of Ukraine’s higher education in the context of globalization

Abstract
The article considered the main problems of transformation and the main directions of the development of higher education in Ukraine. The theoretical and practical aspects of transformation and prospects of development of higher education in Ukraine was the subject of the research. The article uses theoretical research methods: analysis and generalization of scientific literature, comparison, systematization, which allowed generalizing theoretical material on the research problem, systematize the problems of transformation and substantiate the prospects for the development of higher education in Ukraine. In recent years, the process of transforming the system of higher education in Ukraine has acquired a permanent, but to a certain extent, unsystematic character. One of the main problems of reforming the Ukrainian higher education system is the definition of the forms and boundaries of the autonomy of universities for their effective functioning, as well as maintaining a balance between the degree of autonomy and state regulation of the educational process. In the context of globalization, higher education can no longer be limited to training specialists for the local or national labor market, so it becomes necessary to ensure their competitiveness, which becomes a strategic task for all universities. The bases of this are openness of educational institutions, their willingness to cooperate with business, tolerance and internationalization. Successful and prosperous institutions in the future, in our view, will be those universities that are capable of constantly and continuously changing in accordance with new requirements.
