Processing Parameters of Powder Aluminium-Fly Ash P/M Composites
Journal Title: Journal of Advanced Research in Manufacturing, Material Science & Metallurgical Engineering - Year 2017, Vol 4, Issue 3
Abstract
India has large resources of Aluminum, the menace of flyash is no less. As literature professes the deployment of aluminium in metal matrix composites behoves a great future for industry using aluminium products, the promise of developing Aluminium –fly ash composites holds great ground. The present project presents the result of an experimental investigation on the hardness and wear properties of Aluminium Fly ash metal matrix composites synthesised via pressure compaction route reflecting the effects of wt% of fly ash, particle size of fly ash and pressure compaction. The influence of variable parameters, eg fly ash percentage (by weight), particle size and compaction pressure were investigated. By applying Taguchi quality design Concept using L9 orthogonal array and results computed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) to indicate the significant parameters affecting the hardness. The experimental research indicated fly ash percentage (by weight), particle size and compaction pressure were significant factors.
