PRODUCTIVITY OF CHLORELLA VULGARIS BEIJERINCK MONOCULTURE, CULTIVATED ON THE WASTE WATER FROM RECIRCULATING AQUACULTURE SYSTEM
Journal Title: Вісник Одеського національного університету. Біологія - Year 2015, Vol 20, Issue 1
Abstract
The successful selection of culture medium's mineral composition is the main factor in obtaining of microalgae's productive culture. At the same time, a wide range of microalgae's possibilities allows to use for their cultivation the waste waters of different origin. Due to this fact, the evaluation of feasibility of using the waste waters from recirculating aquaculture system for cultivation of monoculture C. vulgaris is a question of present interest. The amount of biomass and the content of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, chlorophyll a, b and carotenoids of C. vulgaris culture, cultivated on the waste water from recirculating aquaculture system (RAS), were investigated. A comparative description of productive parameters of the periodic culture depending on its initial supply by major elements of the mineral nutrition was performed. The possibility of using the waste water from RAS as a culture medium for C. vulgaris cultivation was shown. The cultivation of microalgae C. vulgaris on the water from RAS allows to obtain the active growing culture which is characterized by constant increase of biomass and a high content of proteins and main photosynthetic pigments. At the same time, the effectiveness of algae cultivation on the waste waters from RAS does not differ from the similar under conditions of using the artificial Fitzgerald’s medium.
