Abstract
Great scientist, Prof. Rıdvan Ege, who provided to build up Orthopaedics and Traumatology discipline in Turkey and gave great contributions to medicine and education is also one of the great pioneers of Turkish spinal surgeıy. With his knowledge and experiences that obtained in USA, he performed first procedures about spinal surgery in Turkey. He performed first disc surgery. His thesis of associate professorship was drainage of abcess with posterolateral approach in Pott’s disease. He used Harrington rod system for spinal deformity correction first time in Turkey, simultaneously with his American collegues. He got great success in lots of subjects in his glorious and honorouble life. Therefore, he got superscription of "teacher’s teacher" or in other words "doyen" about spinal surgery as the other subjects.
