Progress in work on the draft Industrial Emissions Directive

Journal Title: CHEMIK nauka-technika-rynek - Year 2010, Vol 64, Issue 6

Abstract

The paper presents the status of proceedings concerning the Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on industrial emissions. In view of the slow progress in the implementation of the IPPC Directive, the European Commission decided to revise the IPPC Directive in the spirit of a “better regulation” strategy. There are three main areas where changes in the currently valid legislation are proposed: strengthening of the role of BREFs in determining the requirements of the best available techniques for individual installations, tightening the requirements for Large Combustion Plants (LCP), new regulations concerning soil protection.
