Propagation of Exploding Uniform Strong Cylindrical Shock Wave in Condensed Medium (Water)

Abstract

The very well-known theory of the shock dynamics, Chester - Chisnell- Whitham method is applied to study the exploding i.e., diverging wave in condensed medium, the water is assumed to be the simplesed form of condensed medium. The analytical shock velocity and shock strength are obtained for two cases viz, (i) when propagates freely i.e., effect of overtaking disturbances is negligible and (ii) when it moves under the influence of overtaking disturbances. Finally, flow variables of the medium perturbed by strong cylindrical shock are obtained and discussed with the help of figures and tables for both the cases. The results obtained here are compared with those obtained by Sharma et.al.
