Abstract
The properties of cast electroslag steel 5XНM made to a bifilar scheme using a hard start correspond to the properties of the cast metal melted openly and allow to use die blocks instead of forged ones. It is experimentally found that scale being the press forging waste would be appropriate for use as a component of the exothermal mixture. The developed techniques for electroslag casting (remelting) using a hard start and exothermal alloyed flux make it possible to intensify the electroslag processes. Physical and chemical properties of the metal reduced from exothermal alloyed flux of 9XФ, 9Х2MФ, 5ХНМ and 60Х2СМФ steel are the bottom of the ingot the same as in the midlle and at the top.
