Proposal Of Green Building Performance Measurement Model For Shopping Malls

Abstract

Competition in shopping malls, which have an important place in our social life, is increasing day by day.In such an atmosphere, performance evaluation of shopping centers in terms of economic, social and environmental aspects is also of great importance. In the literature, there is no model measuring the performance of shopping malls in terms of these factors. In this study, we propose a 2-stage model that measures the green building performance index of shopping malls. In the first phase of the model, green performance index measurement criteria were determined for the shopping malls as a result of the interviews conducted with the experts in both the literature and the shopping mall sector. In this way, a total of 30 sub-criteria were determined including 7 main criteria (Land And Environment, Use of Material, Innovation, Efficiency And Activity, Mall Interior Space Life Quality, Waste And Recycling, Building Management).Weights of these criteria were determined by using Analytic hierarchy process method. In the 2nd phase of the study, the performance measurement of 4 shopping centers in Istanbul was performed by using Promethee method. The importance of this study is that it is the first study to develop a new performance model for the shopping mall sector. In this area, it is expected that the firms will be a tool that will provide performance improvement by providing the determination of missing points in terms of green performance.
