Prosthodontic rehabilitation of partially edentulous patients under the National Health Fund

Journal Title: Prosthodontics - Year 2011, Vol 61, Issue 2

Abstract

Aim of the study. To analyse the cases of partially edentulous patients after prosthodontic treatment under the National Health Fund.Material and methods. Removable partial dentures prepared for 189 partially edentulous patients under the National Health Fund were assessed.Results. The analysis showed the discrepancy between the treatment needed and provided; 80% of the provided acrylic partial dentures could have been replaced with dentures supported on the natural teeth. This result applied to the group of dentures with a span of 5-8 artificial teeth. Much better result (about 10%) was obtained in the group of dentures with a span over 8 artificial teeth. In both study groups the need of replacement between unsupported and naturally supported removable dentures applied to the partially edentulous patients classified with Kennedy’s class I or II.
