PROTECTION OF INLAND WATERS IN ALGERIA: WHAT STRATEGY SHOULD BE ADOPTED FOR THE NEXT TEN YEARS?
Journal Title: Larhyss Journal - Year 2017, Vol 31, Issue 31
Abstract
The protection of inland surface waters in Algeria faces major challenges. Anthropogenic pressures on water bodies and rivers are increasing. Although regulations prohibit harm to inland surface waters, the protection of these vital environments, both for humans and biodiversity, remains ineffective. We present in the text which follows a critique of the means of fight against the pollution and of the methods of evaluation of the state of the rivers and the bodies of water. This work briefly describes the main legal, administrative, technical and financial elements of a strategy to be implemented over the next ten years.
