Abstract
The purpose of the study is to determine the effect of employee representation in the corporate governance bodies on the economic and social performance of companies in Germany and Sweden. These countries share well-established principles of democracy, but differ in terms of their corporate governance systems (two-tier, one-tier), levels of concentration of capital and the position of institutional investors, mainly banks, as well as the scope of employee representation. In both countries, unique models of employee representation have been created, generating beneficial results for both companies and employees. The experiences of these countries can be widely used in Polish conditions.
