PSORTAKSIS: A New Psoriasis Patient Registry System Used in Dermatology Clinic of Kayseri Health Training and Research Center

Abstract

Objective: In many countries, information about patients receiving systemic and biologic agent treatment has been included in patient registration systems (PRS) to enable effective follow-up of medications. Based on literature info, it is known there is not PRS a specific to psoriasis in Turkey. In this study, it was aimed to represent the first used PRS, specifically for psoriasis. Methods: Psoriasis Follow-up System (PSORTAKSIS, abbreviation of “Psoriasis Takip Sistemi” in Turkish) was designed by Kayseri Health Training Research Center (KHTRC) Dermatology Clinic and integrated in to the hospital automation system by KHTRC Data Processing Center. PSORTAKSIS is used for follow-up of patients with psoriasis regardless of disease severity and treatment differences at Chronic Skin Disease Polyclinic of KHTRC Dermatology Clinic since 01.10.2016. Results: PSORTAKSIS consists of main and sub tabs which provide recording of patients’ demographic data, clinical findings, laboratory output, and treatment informations. Conclusion: PRS is important for psoriasis which has a lot of treatment options and requires detailed follow-up. Besides the safe and effective use of drugs, PRS provides informations for epidemiological and clinical studies. PSORTAKSIS has been used in KHTRC Dermatology Clinic nearly a year. The development and nationwide dissemination of PSORTAKSIS, as a first application in Turkey, will provide a significant and necessary contribution.
