Psychometric properties of Turkish form of the Personal Well-Being Index-Adult
Journal Title: The Journal of Happiness and Well-Being - Year 2014, Vol 2, Issue 2
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the psychometric properties of the Personal Wellbeing Index-Adult (PWI-A) that was developed by The International Wellbeing Group (2006) and one of the most commonly used scales to assess the positive psychology in Turkish adult sample. The results of Confirmatory Factor Analysis (x2(28.06)/sd(16)=1.75, AGFI=0.93, GFI= 0.97, NFI=0.98, RFI=0.96, CFI=0.99, IFI=0.99 and RMSEA=0.05) showed that PWI-A had good fit indexes. The internal consistency coefficient was accounted as 0.81, item total correlations showed good level representativeness, and the scale provided the criterion validity. Accordingly, this study suggests that the Turkish form of the Personal Wellbeing Index-Adult (PWIA) could be a useful assessment tool when it comes to measuring positive psychology and quality of life in Turkey.
