PSYCHOSOCIAL DIMENSIONS OF “SOCIAL WITHDRAWAL” SHOWN OF THE EXAMPLE OF JAPAN

Abstract
Since the end of World War II, in Japan, it has been possible to observe not only a series of significant economic changes, but also historical and cultural ones. Undoubtedly, as a consequence, the Japanese society is rapidly developing; however, at the same time new problems, not known until now, are crystallizing. These problems, given some time, can develop into major social issues. At the end of the 20th century one such type of issue became known as social withdrawal.In short, social withdrawal comes down to the fact that a “withdrawn human individual” starts functioning outside the area of social interactions, and what is more, he/she sometimes tend to completely sever contact with the outside world or, in the most drastic cases, commit suicide.
