Quality of Context in Context-Aware Systems
Journal Title: EAI Endorsed Transactions on Context-aware Systems and Applications - Year 2017, Vol 4, Issue 12
Abstract
Context-aware Systems (CASs) are becoming increasingly popular and can be found in the areas of wearable computing, mobile computing, robotics, adaptive and intelligent user interfaces. Sensors are the corner stone of context capturing however, sensed context data are commonly prone to imperfection due to the technical limitations of sensors, their availability, dysfunction, and highly dynamic nature of environment. Consequently, sensed context data might be imprecise, erroneous, conflicting, or simply missing. To limit the impact of context imperfection on the behavior of a context-aware system, a notion of Quality of Context (QoC) is used to measure quality of any information that is used as context information. Adaptation is performed only if the context data used in the decision-making has an appropriate quality level. This paper reports an analytical review the state of the art on quality of context in context-aware systems and points to future research directions.

Pancreas Contour Detection Based On Shearlet Domain In Low Quality Medical Images
Medical images are very useful in diagnosis and treatment. The low quality medical image will be difficult for the doctor to find abnormalities in the image. One of the difficulties for the doctor is how to clarify parts...
Gestures Recognition from Sound Waves
We propose a new method to recognize gestures from sound waves. The main contribution of this paper is to recognize gestures based on the analysis of short-time Fourier transforms (STFT) using the Doppler effect to sense...
Applying Log Data to Context-Awareness in Home Network System
In the conventional context-aware services of the home network system (HNS), every context has been defined by current (or recent) situations only. Considering past situations in a house would significantly extend the ex...
Model Integrating Fuzzy Argument with Neural Network Enhancing the Performance of Active Queue Management
The bottleneck control by active queue management mechanisms at network nodes is essential. In recent years, some researchers have used fuzzy argument to improve the active queue management mechanisms to enhance the netw...
Context-aware hand poses classifying on images and video-sequences using a combination of wavelet transforms, PCA and neural networks
In this paper we propose novel context-aware algorithms for hand poses classifying on images and video-sequences. The proposed hand poses classifying on images algorithm based on Viola-Jones method, wavelet transform, PC...
