Journal Title: Наука і освіта - Year 2016, Vol 0, Issue 11

Abstract

The paper presents the results of the empirical study aimed at investigating the phenomenon of psychological crisis and personal readiness for changes. Some statistical regularities between the indicators of psychological crisis and personal readiness for changes have been found. Comparative analysis of the respondents with different levels of experiencing psychological crisis has made it possible to specify similarities and differences in the configuration of profiles of psychological readiness for changes. Feeling psychological comfort (absence of crisis) is achieved by means of the following characteristics of the readiness: inventiveness, optimism, tolerance to uncertainty. Such a person can create conditions or circumstances for meeting his/her needs and achieving the goals; perceive him-/herself as a selfdeveloping personality. He/she is ready for new experience; feels personal self-fulfilment; observes personal advancement with time; adjusts his/her personality according to the acquired knowledge and achievements; has purpose in life and convictions that determine it. Feeling psychological discomfort (acute feeling of a crisis) is associated with insufficiently developed characteristics of readiness, such as: tolerance to uncertainty, courage, adaptability, and optimism. Such a person feels that it is impossible to change or improve circumstances; has unreasonable attitude towards offered opportunities; lacks control over what is going around him/her. He/she has few goals and intentions, no perspectives or convictions that determine life sense; displeased with him-/herself, disappointed with the events from the past, etc. It should be mentioned that experiencing psychological crisis can be the reason for conscious behaviour that will result in efficient changes in subjective and objective reality of a personality, namely in achievements, innovations, freedom, etc. The represented resource approach makes it possible to develop a set of psychological practices and recommendations aimed at providing psychotherapy and counselling for a personality experiencing acute crisis with account of its individually psychological resources facilitating the process of effective changes in subjective and objective reality of a personality and resulting in reducing crisis experiences.
