REALTIONS OF THE CYBERSPACE PHENOMENON IN SOCIAL SCIENCES AND ITS POSSIBLE IMPLICATIONS AS A CHALLENGE FOR INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

Abstract
The aim of this article is to ascertain the current state of reflection of cyberspace in social sciences, assess the position of International Relations regarding this issue and suggest possible adoption of some topics into International Relations. The basic methodology of this research dwells in quantitative and content analysis of 1028 articles’ abstracts which deal with cyberspace published in the SCOPUS database in English between the years 2000 and 2016. According to the analysis, International Relations can apply the social-science knowledge to the debates tackling global civil society and globalization, changes in state sovereignty, the role of new media and the Internet in international conflicts and diplomacy.
