REASON AS “THE PRACTICAL WISDOM” IN MEDIEVAL NARRATIVES

Abstract
The paper attempts to investigate the specificity of interpretation of wisdom in “Stefanit and Ihnilat” manuscript. All parables, fables, apologists are aimed at searching principles associated with reasonable (wise) behavior. The concept of wisdom (reason) in the manuscript has its gradations from “high” to “utilitarian”. The author found that the main criterion for human behavior in the manuscript is reason (practical wisdom), which determines the successful pragmatic activity of a person. This ideological trend can be conditionally called “medieval pragmatism”, which is one of the varieties of secular thinking
