Recolección y clasificación automática de desechos reciclables
Journal Title: MASKANA - Year 2017, Vol 8, Issue 4
Abstract
This paper describes a Smart City garbage collection and classification system, especially suitable for big cities. The traditional collection of garbage is based on pre-established schedules and routes, independent of the real level of garbage in the collection containers. This translates into unnecessary expenses for municipal garbage collection services because they could visit places where the containers are not full, resulting in a loss of time, fuel, among other costs. Considering the type of waste during collection might create additional opportunities, such as facilitating the reuse of waste. The use of containers equipped with sensors that measure the fill level and sending this information wireless to a server in the Internet cloud, besides a container specific filling system that allows the differentiation between types of waste materials, are explained. Furthermore, the manuscript provides a synoptic description of the needed sensors and software.
