Reflections on the first decade of the African Union: the role of transformation in Burundi, Sudan and Somalia
Journal Title: Conjuntura Austral: journal of the Global South - Year 2014, Vol 5, Issue 26
Abstract
The article aims to understand the performance of the African Union (AU) in the security field in its first decade of existence (2002-2012), and to defend the hypothesis that, even with changes in the structure of the organization in question, granting it more dynamism in conflict resolution, its capacity is in fact curbed by the lack of skilled personnel and by its dependence on resources from external partners.
