Relationship between Civic Sense and Performance of 10th Standard Students in Social Science

Abstract
Civics is one of the branches of Social Science. Learning Social science has a major role in the formulation of civic sense. For the growth, development and sustainable existence of a society Civic Consciousness is essential. But it is difficult to develop civic consciousness in all individuals. The easiest way to accomplish this great mission is by ourselves becoming civic conscious. The aim of the present study is to find out the relationship between Civic Sense and Performance of 10th Standard Students in Social Science. The data were gathered through ‘Civic Sense Situational Test’ from 42 Secondary School Students. Descriptive survey method was used for this study. The findings of the study were: (1) The average Civic Sense students have better Performance in Social Science subject. (2) Those who have high Civic Sense have no good Performance in the Social Science. The finding stress that school should provide community oriented programmes and usage of better methods in teaching learning process to develop the civic sense and improve the performance in social science as well.
