Relationship between Metal Concentrations in Galena Ore and Soil Samples from Galena-rich Farmlands
Journal Title: Chemical Science International Journal - Year 2017, Vol 19, Issue 2
Abstract
One of the Nigerian minerals (galena ore) within galena deposit region in Torkula, Benue state, was characterized along with its vicinity farmland soils for possible relationships in their geo-physico-chemical compositions. Both classical (titrimetric & gravimetric) and instrumental analytical techniques were adopted. Contamination factors revealed different categories of pollution by heavy metals while the metal loading in the ore and ore-rich soils shows no statistical difference for Pb and other key metals at p < 0.05. Hence, the possibility of leaching of toxic metals from mineral ores, their transport and distribution to surrounding environment cannot be over emphasized.

Removal of Aniline and from Aqueous Solutions by Coagulation/Flocculation–Flotation
The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of the coagulation/ flocculation and flotation process for aniline removal from aqueous solutions, which the dissolved air flotation (DAF) was applied in laboratory sc...
Effects of Different pH Values on Dissolution and Recovery of Zinc and Manganese from Spent Zinc– Carbon Batteries Using Ascorbic Acids
The improper disposal of solid batteries containing manganese and zinc has adverse effects from both an environmental and economic standpoint. It would therefore be useful to be able to recover the compounds of zinc and...
Synthesis and Intrinsic Viscosity-molecular Weight Relationship of Poly(ethylene adipate)
In this work, two series of poly (ethylene adipate) (PEA) samples with broad and narrow molecular weight distribution (MWD) were prepared by the polymerization between adipic acid and ethylene glycol. An accurate and swi...
Drying Kinetics and Modelling of Mass Transfer in Thin Layer Convective Drying of Pineapple
The aim of the investigation was to study the drying characteristics of pineapple at different temperatures of 55, 60, 65, 70 and 75°C with 1.5 m/s constant air velocity. In the present study, the best drying model was s...
Production of Fat and Sterol by Aspergillus nidulans in Submerged Fermentation
The efficiency of fat and sterol production by Aspergillus nidulans was evaluated. The fungus was grown in media containing various carbon and nitrogen sources. Some agricultural waste materials namely, corn cob, rice hu...
