Relationship between the Characteristics of Staplers and Malformation of Staples
Journal Title: Journal of Advances in Medicine and Medical Research - Year 2016, Vol 16, Issue 6
Abstract
Mechanical suturing and anastomotic devices are being used more frequently in gastrointestinal and respiratory surgery [1]. Currently, two companies account for most of the market share. One of the differences between the two companies regarding the concept of the staplers is the gripping style at the time of stapling. One uses “Gripping Surface Technology,” and the other uses “Intelligent Compression Technology”. The former is characterized by firmly grasping the tissue between the anvil and cartridge, and the latter is designed to release the tissue laterally. We herein compared the two automatic staplers that used these different concepts and verified these characteristics.
