Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2015, Vol 8, Issue 37

Abstract

Azerbaijan whose history dates back to very old times has witnessed lots of events. Although different religions e.g. Buddhism, Christianity, Manichaeism, Totemism, Fetishism and the fire-worshipping have existed in Azerbaijan’s religious history, a radical change in the region has started with Islam and Islam, with all its elements, has become a determinant factor in Azerbaijan's religious-cultural identity. Despite all the difficulties Azerbaijan had subjected to since the ancient times up to the present, it has survived to this day by preserving its national and religious identity. Religious life and religious education in Azerbaijan throughout history have been experienced fundamentally.
