REMINISCENCES OF THE MEDIEVAL DOCTRINE OF TRANSCENDENTALS IN THE CONCEPT OF “ANY” BEING BY GIORGIO AGAMBEN
Journal Title: Вісник Львівського університету - Year 2018, Vol 18, Issue
Abstract
The reminiscences of the medieval doctrine of transcendentals (“any existent is one, true, good, and perfect”) in the philosophy of Giorgio Agamben are considered. The explicated parallels between the teaching of the Franciscan scholastic Alexander of Hales about the degree of goodness as one of the main characteristics of individuation and the concept of “any” being by Giorgio Agamben allow us to conclude that the metaphysical paradigm of the Middle Ages is in demand in modern philosophy.
