Renal Transplantation: An Update for Anaesthetists

Journal Title: International Journal of Anesthetics and Anesthesiology - Year 2016, Vol 3, Issue 4

Abstract

Abstract: Renal transplantation (RTx) is well established as the optimal method of renal replacement therapy (RRT); however the imbalance between organ supply and demand has led to increased numbers of organs coming from marginal donors. This, in conjunction with an increase in the number of 'marginal recipients', necessitates optimisation of other aspects of transplantation including perioperative care to maintain the excellent outcomes and survival benefit previously published in the literature.
