Abstract
The use of grounded screens — coatings from compositions with graphite filler based on Portland cement and on the basis of sodium silicate as a means of protecting structures from electrocorrosion by leakage currents was investigated. An original technique, which consists in comparing the magnitude of the current through the armature and concrete of the model of the structure without protection and with protection by a grounded shield-coating was developed. The effectiveness of earthed shields to protect structures, such as passenger platforms, from corrosion by leakage currents has been confirmed experimentally. It is established that protection by an earthed shield provides a reduction in the current in the concrete and armature of the model due to the flow of its most part by a protective shield. The protecting properties of the screen depend on the percentage of the contact area of the steel electrode grounding with it - with increasing this percentage, the current strength in concrete and reinforcement decreases, and through the shielding screen increases. If the screen is used with a percentage of the contact area of the earth electrode with it up to 4,3 %, the current in concrete and armature is reduced by 75 - 80 %.
