Research Progress on Low-Temperature Plasma Gas Deodorization Technology in Farming Facilities

Abstract

With the development of China's socio-economy and the acceleration of modernization, the issue of malodorous gas pollution has become increasingly prominent, making odor pollution control an urgent environmental problem to address. Currently, common treatment methods include activated carbon adsorption, water washing, biological deodorization, and plasma deodorization. Among these, the plasma deodorization method, due to its combined chemical and physical comprehensive deodorization characteristics, is widely applied in the field of odor treatment. This method demonstrates significant potential in environmental pollution prevention and control in livestock and poultry farming through plasma discharge.Based on a systematic review of relevant domestic and international research, this paper delves into the mechanism of low-temperature plasma in degrading malodorous gases in farming environments, summarizes the requirements for gas concentration and the operational environmental conditions of plasma devices, and explores the influencing factors of low-temperature plasma technology on the removal efficiency of typical malodorous gases such as ammonia and sulfur compounds. Additionally, by combining the results of domestic pilot applications, the paper prospects the application potential of low-temperature plasma technology in farming environments. The low-temperature plasma gas deodorization technology has the advantages of high efficiency, environmental friendliness, and low energy consumption, providing new ideas and approaches for research on pollution prevention and control in agricultural livestock farming. It is of great significance for promoting green breeding and sustainable development.
