Residual disease after laparoscopic fallopian tube removal due to ectopic pregnancy – a case report

Journal Title: Ginekologia i Położnictwo medical project - Year 2019, Vol 52, Issue 2

Abstract

Residual disease is a rare complication of non-radical ectopic pregnancy treatment. The occurrence of residual disease carries a risk of peritoneal bleeding, which might require urgent surgical intervention, and, in a longer time perspective, result in adhesions within the peritoneal cavity, thereby preventing subsequent conceptions. The article is a description of a woman with peritoneal bleeding from numerous trophoblastic implants following previous non-radical laparoscopic salpingectomy. Later, numerous peritoneal adhesions developed and caused gastrointestinal obstruction with bowel perforation and peritonitis in the subsequent pregnancy, which required another surgery. The procedure resulted in intrauterine pregnancy loss.
