Response of Some Malus Мill. Species Representatives to Extreme Low Temperatures in Baikal Siberia
Journal Title: Журнал ÑтреÑÑ-физиологии и биохимии - Year 2016, Vol 12, Issue 2
Abstract
The paper presents the results of study of maximal frost resistance of apple-tree varieties of Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Buryat, Canadian selection by the method of artificial freezing. The research found virtually all apple-tree varieties to withstand the temperature as low as -45[sup]о[/sup]С without serious damage to bark, cambium and wood; with only Melba variety exhibiting significant bark damage. Apple-tree varieties of Buryat ACRI selection, regardless of cultivation location, demonstrated high tissue resistance to critical low negative temperatures. The investigated forms of Malus baccata L. Borkh, are characterized by high frost resistance in the middle of winter regardless of their location. Critical temperatures of -50[sup]о[/sup] and -55[sup]о[/sup]С proved lethal for Lada, Krasnaya Grozd’ varieties, as well as for Melba variety of Canadian selection.

Влияние низкой температуры на содержание белка и активность пероксидазы при инокуляции гороха Rhizobium leguminosarum
Изучали изменение в содержании белка и активности пероксидазы в корнях гороха при воздействии инфицирования Rhizobium leguminosarum и низкой температуры. Показано, что количество белка и активность пероксидазы меняются в...
Effect of Photosynthetic Electron Transport Inhibition in vivo on the Chloroplast Genes Transcription in Arabidopsis
Transcription of both nuclear and plastid genes encoding components of photosynthetic apparatus is subjected to redox regulation. The origin of redox signals mediating this regulation is chloroplast electron transport ch...
Comparative study on the thermogenic mechanism in two rodents, Eothenomys milletus and Apodemus chevrieri in Hengduan Mountain region during cold exposure
The thermogenic mechanisms were measured in the two small rodents, Eothenomys milletus and Apodemus chevrieri in Hengduan mountain region during cold exposure. The main results were as follows: 1. RMR and NST incredsed 6...
Influence of NaCl on Biochemical Parameters of Two Cultivars of Stevia rebaudiana Regenerated in vitro
Soil salinity occupies a prominent place among the soil problems that threaten the sustainability of agriculture over a vast area in the world. It affects plant morpho-physiology and ultimately leads to reduction in prod...
EFFECT OF CONIFEROUS EXTRACT ON POTATO PLANTS
Low doses of extracts from conifer trees, such as Novosil and Lariksin, increased the complex resistance of potato plants to diseases in vegetation period. Also they act as growth stimulation factors and promote the grow...
