Journal Title: Бранта: Сборник научных трудов Азово-Черноморской орнитологической станции - Year 2016, Vol 19, Issue
Abstract
A total of 57 species of migrating birds were recorded during the ornithological studies, carried out on Dzharylhach Island (territory of National Nature Park “Dzharylhatskyi”) during 12-21 August 2015. Non-passerines were represented by 35 species (1506 ind.), 9 orders and 15 families. Among them, 16 species were typical migrants, 17 – breeding on the island or in the region, other 2 were non-breeding, summering species. Passerines included 22 species (5 families); of them 17 species (68 ind.) were captured by mistnets and ringed. Among migrants, 7 rare bird species (Hen Harrier, Montagu’s Harrier, Stone Curlew, Oystercatcher, Ringed Plover, Kentish Plover and Roller), entered in the Red Data Book of Ukraine (2009) were recorded, and over 50 species had other conservation status. The initial stage of the current inventory confirms a status of Dzharylhach Island as a key area for migratory birds.
