Results of the third monitoring stage of 137Cs accumulation by species of grass-dwarf-shrub layer of oak-pine forests in miost fairly fertile sites within Zhytomyr Polissya

Abstract

The study was carried out in July, 2018, on experimental plot laid down in moist oak-pine relatively fertile site type. Accumulation of 137Cs by 45 species of vascular plants of grass-dwarf-shrub layer was investigated. It was found that in the massif of our data, the diapason of the mean values of 137Cs transfer factor (TF) from the soil to aboveground phytomass were from 0,18 ± 0,024 m2·kg-1·10-3 in Vaccinium myrtillus to 5,90 ±0,873 m2·kg-1·10-3 in Dryopteris filix-mas. Within the studied data massif, according to the mean TF values, plant species were distributed into 9 homogeneous groups, however taxonomically heterogeneous. It was shown that representatives of the largest families were distributed among different homogeneous groups on experimental plot. The distrubution was determined by the depth of placing the plants’ root systems in the soil. It was found that the mean values of TF for 137Сs from the soil to aboveground phytomass for the majority of the species continued to decrease during 2014–2018. The order of the species in the ranked row has also changed according to the mean values of TF.
