Review of electrostatic hazards in hard coal mining
Journal Title: Mining – Informatics, Automation and Electrical Engineering - Year 2018, Vol 534, Issue 2
Abstract
Electrostatic hazards are considered a category of technical hazards occurring in hard coal mining. These hazards are related to the generation of excess electric charges forming as a result of most technological processes. Products manufactured from plastics that are classified as non-antistatic materials pose the greatest hazard. The article discusses the Polish and European legal regulations concerning the requirements for materials regarding their antistatic properties. It also presents the results of studies conducted at GIG concerning the systematization of the antistatic processing of plastics. Furthermore, the article proves that the procedure of applying antistatic properties to plastics is neither easy nor homogeneous. The introduced antistatic processing systematics (i.e., the identification of various antistatic processing realization methods) is meant to make both the manufacturers and customers aware of the various (often undesired) properties of modified plastics.

Real-time operational control in information management system for flash-butt welding of rails
Operational control of welding quality is the fundamental element of the entire rail manufacturing process. In practice, real-time systems are used for this purpose. This article features a new method that makes use of f...
Investigation of correlation between physical properties and microstructure geometrical parameters of Cr-Cu composite material used for vacuum arcing contacts
A new microstructure quality index is proposed, suitable for Cr-Cu system metal-matrix materials used for arc-suppressing electrical contacts of vacuum switches for high voltages (10-36 кV) and high currents (20-100 кА)....
Automated transfer point URB/ZS-3
In the KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. mines, excavated material is transported by transport trucks to transfer points and then by beltconveyors to near-shaft storage reservoirs, from where the excavated material is transported t...
Optimizing data transmission in communication systems which use magnetic couplings
Communication systems which make use of magnetic couplings are systems in which the transformation of signals is conducted through induction elements. These elements transfer and receive energy from the transportation un...
Back-up short circuit protection in underground medium voltage networks
The paper presents issues related to the implementation of back-up short-circuit protection in the final sections of an underground medium voltage distribution network. The difficulties may arise from regulatory requirem...
