Review on Parallel and Distributed Computing
Journal Title: Scholars Journal of Engineering and Technology - Year 2013, Vol 1, Issue 4
Abstract
Parallel and distributed computing is a complex and fast evolving research area. In its short 50-year history, the mainstream parallel computer architecture has evolved from Single Instruction Multiple Data stream (SIMD) to Multiple Instructions Multiple Data stream (MIMD), and further to loosely coupled computer cluster; now it is about to enter the Computational Grid era. The algorithm research has also changed accordingly over the years. However, the basic principles of parallel computing, such as inter-process and inter-processor communication schemes, parallelism methods and performance model, remain the same. In this paper, a short introduction of parallel and distributed computing will be given, which will cover the definition, motivation, various types of models for abstraction, and recent trend in mainstream parallel computing.

Three Commercial organic Acids for the Leaching of Metals from Tailings
The mining industry generates enormous volumes of mining wastes. Among these mine discharges, tailings are the most problematic given their very fine particle sizes and the chemicals used to process the ore. Moreover, if...
Numerical Simulation of Gas Diffusion in Overhead Natural Gas Pipeline Leakage
Abstract: The leakage of natural gas pipeline brings threat to people’s safety and social stability. Gas diffusion plays an important role in detecting pipeline leakage. Diffusion model of overhead natural gas pipeline l...
The Research of Ultra-low Permeable Reservoir Horizontal Well Pattern Optimization
Horizontal well fracturing technology is a low permeable oilfield development mining technology. Reservoir physical properties changes after fracturing. In this paper, on the basis of a large number of indoor experiment...
Effects of phytic acid on nutrients and antioxidant activities of apple juice
Phytic acid was added into apple juice at the concentration of 0.1mmol/L, and the effects of phytic acid on antioxidant activities and the contents of vitamin C and polyphenols and antioxidant activities of apple juice w...
The Enforcement of Project Quality Management Plan (QMP), an Antidote to Building Failure in Nigeria
Poor quality work and materials liter the entire construction landscape in Nigeria, yet there is an excellently prepared Quality Management Plan (QMP) that if implemented, will go a long way in reducing the menace of bui...
