Abstract
Аналізуючи специфіку співвідношення християнського Сходу та Заходу в культурно-історичних реаліях сучасності, архимандрит Рафаіл (Карелін) відзначив: "Західна цивілізація – це нібито широка хвиля світла, але світла розсіяного, світла, переломленого крізь земні призми різних кольорів. А Схід – кон-центрація світла в одній точці, а тому це світло має особливу силу перетворюватися на полум’я. Захід любив землю і на небі він бачив земне. Схід любив небо і в земному вбачав символи небесного; у тимчасовому шу-кав образи вічності". Наведені слова окреслюють певні аспекти дихотомії християнського світу минулого та сьогодення. Водночас вони є складовими більш широкої сфери сучасних гуманітарних, етноконфесійних, культурно-історичних та мистецтвознавчих розвідок у сфері дослідження проблематики "Схід – Захід", що становлять одну з найбільш актуальних галузей гуманітарного знання останніх двох століть.
