REVISING THE SI: THE JOULE TO REPLACE THE KELVIN AS A BASE UNIT
Journal Title: Metrology and Measurement Systems - Year 2006, Vol 13, Issue 2
Abstract
The joule is proposed to replace the kelvin in the set of SI base units. Arguments in favour of such replacement are presented, including improved standard accuracy and unit system coherence. The joule is also proposed to be added to the quantum metrological triangle (which couples the volt, the ampere and the hertz) to transform it into a system called quantum metrological pyramid, that would couple four units rather than three, and allow comparison of the respective standards.

ANALYSIS OF INFLUENCE OF INTERNAL CONVERTERS NONLINEARITY ON INTELLIGENT CYCLIC ADC PERFORMANCE
The task of the paper is the presentation of a modelling approach to quantitative analysis of the influence of internal converter nonlinearities on the performance of sub-optimal intelligent cyclic A/D converters (IC ADC...
FORMAL DEFINITION AND PROPERTIES OF FEB-BASED ENOB OF INTELLIGENT CYCLIC ADC
The paper presents a new approach to the measurement of effective resolution (effective number of bits - ENOB) of the cyclic A/D converters (CADCs). The core idea of the approach is a direct measurement of ENOB using, as...
METROLOGICAL ASPECTS IN MEASUREMENTS OF A SPECTRUM GENERATED AS THE RESULT OF SWITCHING AN ELECTRIC CIRCUIT<br />
This paper presents issues connected with experimentally specifying the envelope of spectral density of a signal which arises by the operation of switching an electric circuit. Furthermore, the paper discusses an applied...
DETERMINING THE UNCERTAINTY OF FITTING DISCRETE MEASUREMENT DATA TO A NOMINAL SURFACE
Coordinate measurements are a source of digital data in the form of coordinates of measurement points with a discrete distribution on the measured surface. Geometric deviations of freeform surfaces are determined at each...
FOUR-PARAMETER SINE-FITTING ALGORITHM FOR DETECTION AND CLASSIFICATION OF TRANSIENTS AND WAVEFORM DISTORTIONS
This paper describes a new method for detection of some power quality (PQ) disturbances, namely transients and waveform distortions. The proposed algorithm is based on a modified version of the four-parameter sine-fitti...
