REVISITING THE PROBLEM OF FACTOR ANALYSIS TECHNIQUE

Abstract
The article is an excerpt of a study based on the triangulation approach, which combines the data of linguistics, psycholinguistics, psycho-semantics, psychology and sociology. The study analyzed the formation of values of everyday language consciousness of the respondents which are manifested by language signs with affectively coloured contents. There was generated a model of the core values semantic space reflection in the respondents’ public everyday consciousness. The article describes the technique of factor analysis, which aims to bring all the quantitative measurements to a minimum and the Charles Osgood method of semantic differential which helped to determine the deep categorization system in terms of the quantitative criterion of the connotative meaning. For the purpose of describing the linguistic consciousness of the individual, his implicit model was outlined in the experimental part of our work as a reconstruction of the categorical structure of everyday consciousness, with individual systems of values, obtained from the individual results of the data analysis, complemented by their interpretation, as well as by the practical purpose of the experiment.
