Rigid antimicrobial polymeric composite with PVC matrix and ZnO and TiO2 functionalized nanoparticles
Journal Title: Revista de Pielărie Încălţăminte - Year 2019, Vol 19, Issue 2
Abstract
In this paper, rigid antimicrobial polymeric nanocomposites were developed - polymeric material based on chemically functionalized nanoparticles with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) – dispersed in a plastomer matrix. By dispersing them in plastomer matrix (polyvinyl chloride - PVC), hybrid TiO2/ZnO nanoparticles (50:50) (fillers) functionalized for good compatibility have led to the development of an advanced polymeric material with antibacterial, multifunctional and processing properties specific to plastics. Experimental polymeric materials are adapted to biomedical and food applications, therefore, they were tested for stability and long-term antimicrobial activity. The combined effects of functionalised nanoparticles and polymer on the structure and properties of new experimental materials were studied. Experimental nanocomposites were morpho-structurally, microbiologically and physico-mechanically characterized.

BIOCOMPOSITES FROM TANNED LEATHER FIBRES WITH APPLICATIONS IN CONSTRUCTIONS
In tanneries, only approx. one-third of the total mass of raw hides and skins is converted to finished leather, while two-thirds become either dissolved or solid waste. As part of the natural materials category, usually...
EFFECT OF UV IRRADIATION ON VEGETABLE TANNED LEATHER
This article aims at studying the influence of UV irradiation on vegetable tanned leather. Vegetable tanned leather was treated in QUV chamber (T = 50°C, irradiance = 1.77 W/mm2nm, λUVA = 340 nm) for 0, 30, 60, 90, 120 a...
EFFECTS OF DAILY USED BAGS ON BIOMECHANICS CHARACTERISTIC OF ELEMENTARY STUDENTS
In order to evaluate the effects on biomechanics characteristic of daily used bags of elementary students, we select three different types of marketable school bags (backpack A with shoulder cushion design, backpack B wi...
A STUDY ON WATER VAPOUR PERMEABILITY WITH INCREASED FUNCTIONAL PROPERTIES OF UPPER LEATHERS
Water vapour permeability is one of the most important physical properties of leathers, which impacts the essential functional properties such as the breathability and the comfort of leather products. With growing string...
COMPARATIVE STUDY REGARDING LEATHER BIODEGRADABILITY
This paper presents a comparative study regarding the biodegradability of three types of organic tanned leathers: vegetable tanned leather, leather tanned with oxazolidine and leather tanned with resorcinol – oxazolidine...
