Role of proximal femur locking plate in management of complex proximal femoral end fractures
Journal Title: Indian Journal of Orthopaedics Surgery - Year 2018, Vol 4, Issue 1
Abstract
Introduction To study the role of proximal trochanteric contoured plate in management of complex proximal femur end fracturesMaterials and Methods A total of 30 cases 11 male and 19 female patients aged 19 to 90 years Mean age 42 were included Time duration of surgery total amount of blood loss hospital stay mobilization and weight bearing radiological assessment of union complications and Harris Hip score were assessed at the end of 6 monthsResults Mean duration of surgery was 7218 mins average blood loss was 28375ml average hospital stay was 1375 days Mean time for radiological union was 168 wks and Harris hip score was 846 Abductor lurch occurred in 4 casesConclusion Proximal Femoral Locking Compression Plate PFLCP provides stable fixation for fractures of proximal end of femur especially for lateral wall fracture because it provides stable fixation of lateral fragments and prevents lateral migration of proximal fragmentsKeywords Proximal femur fractures Proximal femur locking plate Harris Hip Score MESH words Proximal femur fracture Internal fixation Extramedullary devices

Results of open reduction and internal fixation by plate osteosynthesis in tibial plateau fractures
Background: Open reduction and rigid internal fixation for displaced tibial plateau fracture achieves the goals of restoring the anatomic articular congruity and mechanical alignment, while allowing early knee mobilizati...
Long proximal femoral nail versus short proximal femoral nail in treatment of unstable intertrochanteric fractures- a prospective randomized comparative study
Background & objectives: In elderly, the Intertrochanteric fractures are one of the most common fractures of the hip out of which more than 50% are unstable. Internal fixation is optimal for it fractures which are very c...
Minimally Invasive Plate Osteosynthesis: A Review
Present-day concepts of osteosynthesis emphasize upon biological healing of fractures. This has led to advent of minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis. This technique if used when indicated leads to numerous advantages...
Management of Low Back Pain by Administration of Epidural Steroid Injection
The likelihood of experiencing an episode of low back pain increases with age, and 85% of people will have at least one episode in their lifetime. Prevalence of low back pain is next only to headache. Total 50 patients (...
Arthroscopic staple fixation in the management of displaced anterior cruciate ligament avulsion fractures
Introduction Knee injuries are commonly associated with anterior cruciate ligament ACL avulsion fractures and its management is controversial ranging from conservative treatment to arthroscopic fixation The purpose of ou...
