Journal Title: Studia Humanistyczne AGH - Year 2018, Vol 17, Issue 1

Abstract

The article aims to provide a framework for extending ethical obligations toward artifacts (usable things). The first part presents the current debate on both metaphysical and ethical status of artifacts. The second one, drawing upon reism of Tadeusz Kotarbinski, portrays artifacts as concretes, with a focus on the possibility of their damage and destruction. The main part of the article is the analysis of ethical dilemmas related to (1) use of artifacts, (2) their production, (3) purchase and sale, and 4) the post-use period.
