Satisfaction and job dissatisfaction in nurses' perception of a university hospital

Abstract
The work engages a central place in human life and depending on how it is organized and executed, demand action in order to meet the needs of workers, which can generate satisfaction or dissatisfaction. A study to explore and describe a quality approach whose finality is to know the elements of satisfaction and dissatisfaction according to nurses at public and also teaching hospitals in São Paulo. Ten nurses participated. The data were collected between April and July 2007 through semistructured interviews presented in a narrative way. The methodology adopted was Bardin's Analysis of Content to verify the descriptions. From the study came out the meaningful units: satisfaction at work, dissatisfaction at work and duality between both. The results caused the identification of the elements responsible for the satisfaction and dissatisfaction at work thus allowing the implementation of strategies on the organizational dynamics and also contributing to the formation of quality items in the management of human resources.
