Abstract

Research at the university is not only responsible for the research training of future professionals but it also should intervene in solving problems at social, business, community and group levels. This paper discusses this reality and analyzes the actions that link social participation in science and technology with the research training for university students. The literature review was aimed at finding scientific texts and unpublished research that address the issue from the science, technology and society (STS) perspective. Among the main results it is possible to find students scientific research initiatives, science and technology advisory agencies, as well as knowledge transfer activities, which allows us to come to the conclusion that there is a link between research and participatory processes through different modes of knowledge construction at the university
